English as well as Marathi language translation of one of the most recited hymn of Lord Shri Rama, which is originally written in the Sanskrit language

Lord Shri Rama, with his wife Sita, his brother Lakshman, and great devotee Lord Hanuman

I was in my second grade of the elementary school, where they had the tradition of teaching the divine hymn (stotra) — one stanza every morning before the start of the classes.

For one week, we would recite the same stanza every morning, and the next week, learn the next stanza, while reciting it with the ones learnt in the earlier weeks.

By the time we were in the second half of the second grade, we had learnt one of the most famous hymns (stotra) of Lord Rama, called Ramaraksha stotra.

Since then I have been reciting this stotra every…

One of the most famous mantras from thousands of years ago

Consider these two equations:

x + x = x; and

x — x = x;

what is the value of x?

If you say, it is zero, then you are right.

0 + 0 = 0 and

0 - 0 = 0

If you say, it is infinity (∞), then also you are right.

∞ + ∞ = ∞; and

∞ - ∞ = ∞

Zero is something that cannot be defined; and Infinity is something that is indefinite, abundant.

For me, these equations together also represent the “Shanti (peace) Mantra” from Upanishads:

ॐ पूर्णमदः पूर्णमिदं पूर्णात्पूर्णमुदच्यते |
पूर्णस्य पूर्णमादाय पूर्णमेवावशिष्यते…

No need show your ego everywhere

I frequently go to a restaurant, know almost everyone working there by their names and always chat with them, mostly in their local language. All they know is I am a regular, who is friendly with them.

One day, somehow the manager came to know about my position in the organization and said, “You never show who you are, always talk with our people and leave us smiling when you go; while there are others who are hell bent on showing their superiority and treat us badly.”

I replied, “I leave my title in the office, before I step out.”

I am sure you complain 100% of times when it is not good

Do you remember the last time when the salt in the food was either more or less?

How many times you told about it to the one who cooked — 100% of times? I guess it was 100% of the times.

Now, do you remember the last time when the food was good?

How many times in the last year you told the one who cooked it?

100% of the times, or 10% of the times?

I guess that it was less than 100% of the times.

It is important to appreciate EVERY time when the food is good.

When…

Handle the garbage properly

Garbage collection, disposal and treatment systems keep our houses and the cities clean and healthy.

Our skin, liver, large intestine, lungs and kidneys are parts of the excretory system in our bodies to take out the waste and keep us healthy.

Even computer software has the garbage collection programs to manage and free up the memory.

Who do you think is responsible to prevent, collect, dispose of and treat the garbage in our minds?

No one else can help us there.

Anything that makes you weak — physically, intellectually and spiritually, reject it as poison — Swami Vivekananda
