Bhagavad Gita — chapter 15 — Puruṣhottama Yoga

In the fifteenth chapter of the holy Bhagavad Gita, which is known as the ‘Puruṣottama Yoga’ (पुरुषोत्तम योग’), Bhagavān (Lord) Śri Kriśna uses the metaphor of a tree for describing the universe. He also explains the two types of beings — perishable ones and liberated ones — and then explains the Supreme divine personality, in order to then achieve the liberation.

अधश्चोर्ध्वं प्रसृतास्तस्य शाखा गुणप्रवृद्धा विषयप्रवाला: |
अधश्च मूलान्यनुसन्ततानि कर्मानुबन्धीनि मनुष्यलोके ||2||

adhaśhchordhvaṁ prasṛitāstasya śhākhā guṇa-pravṛiddhā viṣhaya-pravālāḥ
adhaśhcha mūlānyanusantatāni karmānubandhīni manuṣhya-loke
||2||
