Learn to Play Chess in Order to be Effective at your Workplace
About an year ago, AlphaZero, the game-playing AI created by Google sibling DeepMind, defeated the world’s best chess-playing computer program, having taught itself how to play in under four hours.
I am sure that at workplace, where you are playing your best game every day, this AI will not be helpful while dealing with real human beings with whom you are working.
Before making any move in chess.. or at work.., you have to analyze the situation, process what the other player is doing, which all options you have, which one is best in current situation, what will be reaction to that from the opponent, and how you will respond to that.
Think like that at least three moves ahead with all possible options, and then make your move, in every task in hand for the project you are working on.
Being good in playing chess helps in very important skills to succeed in the work life. You will probably have better analytical skills, better decision making skills, tactics versus strategy formation, what-if analysis, backup planning, assigning right team member for the project on hand, cross-training of your team, better co-ordination among team members by supporting each other, focus on the prize, balance attack versus defense and improvisation.
